NICKNAMES:
If Joleen, Marte and Jean go out for lunch, they will call each other Joleen, Marte and Jean.
If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.
EATING OUT:
When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20,even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their bill,out come the pocket calculators.
MONEY:
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs. A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.
BATHROOMS:

Where did our US jobs go??????
This was sent to me by a friend who lost her job in October. She had worked at the same place for 15 years....but no longer. Her company could not compete with the foreign imports...many of which were actually American companies who chose to have their items made overseas.....cheaper? I suppose so. But in a way, we, as comsumers are also to blame. We want the best bargain, i.e. cheapest, items we can find....who cares if John, Helen, Tom or Doreen, American citizens, will lose their jobs....obviously we don't.
John Q. Public started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6 am.
While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG ).
He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRILANKA ), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE ) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today.
After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) turning off his radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with gas (FROM SAUDI ARABIA) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day of checking his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), John decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE ) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA.
Do you see anything WRONG with this story? You should.
Made in America
I sell on twi online auction sites....Ebay and Bonanza. Many of my items are from my family, estate sales, garage sales, Thrift stores, and marked-down sales from big name stores.
I watched a news story last night that made me realize how I am contributing to the downfall of American industry....I looked at the items I have for sale, and was disappointed to see that less than 1/3 of them were made in America....made in the USA.
The ABC News reporter, Diane Sawyer said that if everyone in the United States bought ONE item made in the USA, thousands of Americans would still have their jobs. ONE item, costing less than $3.33. "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" is launching a groundbreaking series, "Made in America," focusing on American manufacturing and our economy.
At one time, we were known as the meat-packing center of the United States, we had the stockyards, Armour, Cudahy and other packing houses, Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Union Pacific Railroad, public utilities, small businesses and factories where people could find jobs.....lets face it, not everyone is smart enough or wants to be a computer technician, retail sales person, teacher, doctor or design websites.
What are the young people in this area to do? Yes, there are some that will fight their way out of near poverty, but again, they are the exception....the majority have lost the desire to go to work even if work is available. And, why work when welfare checks arrive every month. In the past, one could always enlist in the armed forces.....not anymore. Their standards have gone up...no longer can someone "join the Army and see the world" ... in my teens, I knew several young men who were given option of "join the Army or go to jail". They were provided an education and a purpose in life.
I have wandered away from my original idea with this article. Yes, I will keep my items listed on Ebay and Bonanza ...and hope they will sell. BUT, I will make it a priority to seek out items MADE IN THE USA which I will put up for sale (and list them that way on my auction sites.)
Look at items in your home or closet....are you helping America's industries by buying Made in USA? If not.....why not?????
And, to those American companies who have moved their factories out of the United States and by doing so KNOWINGLY put thousands of American workers out of jobs
....SHAME ON YOU !!!

March 13 through March 20, 2011 were banner days for America workers. On Sunday, March 13, 2011, our Sunday supplement included a 20 PAGE flyer for Made in U.S.A items...every one!
274 items, all sporting a little America flag....MADE IN THE USA! and even indicating WHERE in the USA they were made.
Since we had been planning to put a new floor in our kitchen, this was the time to do it...we bought laminate flooring (Rustic Allure) made by the SHAW Company in Ringgold, Georgia. I will be proud of my American kitchen floor!
The flyer is crammed full of items that are used every day in every household in the USA...the prices are are excellent and quality is as good or better than can be found in comparable imported goods. But, many of us don't bother to look for American made products ...its takes tooooo much effort to turn over a container or bottle to see where it was made!!!! And, we just assume that foreign-made products will be cheaper...thats not always true. This week, Menards was doing it for us!
Its time we quit automatically buying imported items and start thinking about things that OUR OWN American workers make. Sure, it takes a little effort to look at each and every item from canned food to cleaning products....but you live in AMERICA, don't you think you owe it to our American factories and American workers to buy their products?
Someday it may be YOUR job on the line.....
NOTE: Its now Spring of 2012 and Menards has run this particular advertisement nearly every month since March of 2011. Diane Sawyer's nightly news program has shown how buying American Made Products has revived some of America's dying businesses. Now we need, for our health's sake, to look at the labels on CANNED PRODUCTS. China seems to be very lax in what goes into products for foreign consumption......check the internet...look at how FISH are raised in China...what and how they are being fed. Orange juice is not always from American oranges and pesticides banned here are used widely in other countries. My morning Tropicana orange juice is blended with OJ from Brazil....I always thought it was pure Florida orange juice. Now I know better.
Stay Away from My House
Our home is in a nice area of Omaha....at least we thought so. But crime happens everywhere. Maybe it's the economy...jobs are being lost and people need money. So, they steal it. A "you have it...I need it" mentality.
Our neighor's house was broken into last week...the thief threw a rock through their picture window and stole a purse that was sitting on a nearby table. The home owner had turned off the security system and forgot to reset the alarm. They have a dog (can YOU be sued by a thief if your dog bites him?) but it was in the basement family room with the rest of the family.
Does my liability insurance cover me if the thief was cut by the broken glass as he reached into the room to grab the purse? I suppose a "good" lawyer could say that it was "tempting" the thief because the purse was in plain sight so the homeowner was at fault. What if the thief had tripped over the water hose on his way to picking up the BIG rock....could the homeowner be sued?
He hasn't been caught yet, but his stocking cap was left behind. It caught on the broken glass as he reached into the room.....maybe his DNA is on it!

Split ends, brittle hair, little wads of hair in the drain after you wash your hair? Oh yea, admit it….I could probably throw in dandruff and dry skin too, but I’m not sure about them.
Shampoo and soap companies are getting R-I-C-H, thanks to the constant bombardment of TV ads promoting hair products, soap and body lotions. Think about it.......how many people walking around your town have gorgeous, silky hair that flows in the wind and glistens like silk? I'm not even sure their hair is real......but you buy the product. After all, would they lie???
expect it. (heres a hint: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate)Read the ingredients on your shampoo bottle or on the bottle of your child’s bubble bath. Click on shampoo and bubble bath . Do you also have dry, flaky skin? Read the label on that bar of soap......there's that dreaded Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
Sylvia Browne - psychic
Every Wednesday, I make it a point to watch the Montel Williams Show on television. The main reason, other than the fact he has a pretty good program, is that I want to watch Sylvia Browne who is usually his guest on Wednesdays. Sylvia is a psychic - she answers questions from the audience regarding life and death. Or, she will tell a person when to expect to meet the love of their lives…”she’s looking for a MAN!” as Montel is apt to say.

I’m not overly religious and I am not too sure what, if anything, is waiting for us when we die. Heaven is a distinct possibility since that’s what I was brought up to believe…but what is Heaven? In my mind, I imagine Heaven to be a place populated with either filmy white ghostly figures or maybe spheres of light. Or maybe nothing at all.
I’m reading Sylvia Browne’s book LIFE ON THE OTHER SIDE a Psychic’s Tour of the Afterlife. It is an amazing book and one that gives me hope......I lost a dear friend this fall, and I hope that Sylvia's descriptions are accurate and that "Home" is as beautiful and wonderful as she says it is. And that my friend is healthy and happily painting, drawing and creating as she once could.
